Today my wife and I went to the seventh annual ChocolateFest in Portland, Oregon. This event is a fundraiser for the World Forestry Center which is in Washington Park next to the Oregon Zoo. The WFC is a non-profit organization involved with the mission of educating people about the world’s forests and encourages environmental sustainability.
ChocolateFest has grown each year and has become a popular Northwest event, which is now held at the Oregon Convention Center. With over 80 participating vendors, ChocolateFest may now be one of the largest chocolate festivals in the country.
With such a large and diverse group of vendors, there is bound to be something to suit your taste. Most booths give out free sample, so it should be easy to decide which chocolates you would like to take home with you.
We purchased a variety of hand crafted confections from Cocotutti (selected as the “Best in show”). Not only were the flavors bold and unique, the artistry of the chocolate designs was quite exceptional. The flavors we liked included liquid vanilla caramel, Lemon lavender and orange confit
Tomorrow (Jan 22) is the last day of the event. If you can’t make it and you love chocolate, plan to attend next year.
