On a recent trip to the Oregon coast, I came upon these rusty hinges. The lovely warm wash of color combined with the crackly worn appearance, compelled me to take some photos. No attempt was made to straighten or crop the original images. The slightly off kilter positions seemed to suit the subject.

The awesome power of oxidation.
Great images, I love the colours and textures here.

Thanks Finn. In this case, the oxidation was helped along by electro-chemical reactions due to the presents of salt coming off the Pacific Ocean.

Thanks Shonnie! It’s funny that something like rusty hinges can be so attractive. That leads me to think that if we look at something close enough, or step back a ways and get a different perspective, we may find beauty in places we never would have thought it existed.

Thanks Melanie! I might have never noticed the hinges if you had not opened my eyes to the beauty of rust.
Some of the things you say really crack me up. But oddly I do know what you mean about them looking delicious.
