Pelicans at the Oregon Coast

When I arrived at the south end of Seaside, Oregon on July 31st, a feeding frenzy of shore birds was underway. It lasted for three days with hundreds of brown pelicans and gulls gorging themselves on schools of fish visiting the area. And then suddenly on the forth day, the birds were gone, leaving only the resident seagulls who searched the shoreline for whatever morsels might wash up on the beach.

You’ve got a terrific series of images here Rick. I love the ones of the pelicans standing and taking off in the surf. It must have been an amazing sight to be in amongst them. How close were you to the birds?
